COVID-19 MADNESS : COMMUNITY VIIGIL WATCH AGAINST ROBBERS

The Convid-19 Viral Disease Palaver had been more than just a sickness. The extension of the Lockdown Measurement in Nigeria had brought more hunger and starvation to People. There had been more Robberies day in day out around the cities of Lagos and environs. On Sunday 12th of April, the President of Nigeria, President Mohammadu Buhari extended the Lockdown extra two weeks to control the spreading of the Corona Virus. The Corona Virus spread had been on so much increase without a decline, the infestation number is invariably proportional to the rate of discharged cases.

Nigerians staying at home during this Lockdown haven’t been finding life easy.

Few days ago, there was rumoured news that Robbers wrote letter warning the streets of their arrivals, One Million Boys the gang are referred as.

There was pandomium in a street away from ours. As the news got to my street, everyone became so alert.

Hearing this, about 8:30PM, no sleeping tonight, everyone acclaimed. For the past one week. The Landlords in the area have been keeping watch all through the nights, Making noises and gnashing Iron objects and farming tools to scare off intruders. We were right there, both old, young, feeble, boys, girls and women, came out to keep watch. No sleeping tonight was the theme. While, some yelled, “who dem be?” “Dem no dey fear?”

All manner of weapons you can think of, from Guns, knives, cutlasses, farming and kitchen tools was present there like roll call. The Community Neighbours have vowed to keep watch to beefing up security this way.

Writing this, the street is yet see Police Van nor hear the sound of siren. A call was made to the Lagos state Police control room reporting this, after trying all the numbers, one manage to go through. The situation was reported, the voice, responded they would reach out the area.

These areas have been so vulnerable to security threats these days, Ojodu Berger axis, Yakoyo, Ajuwon, Akute, Giwa, Olambe and more. It is advised that Security Agencies should take measures to drastically address the security challenge posed in these areas.

COVID-19 LOCKDOWN: WE HAD TO KEEP WATCH THROUGH OUT THE NIGHT AGAINST ARMED ROBBERS

It is no longer News how the Deadly Disease had been ravaging our cities, Nigeria and the entire World. It has been overwhelming to Countries and Governments right now. The spread of the Pandemic Corona Virus and of course death toll had also been on the increase.

To ameliorate this situation, the Federal Government initiated 2 weeks Shutdown to Economic activities of non essential Companies and general movements.

This hasn’t been funny in the Economic and spending pockets of average Nigerians. This had now led to house to house robberies in some areas of Lagos state and Ogun state.

The situation had been so difficult to manage. For the past one week now, the untold hardships had been so much that people have been unable to feed. The Criminals had taken advantage of the situation to survive by robbing house to house. People now sleep with their eyes opened in fear.

My area, Olambe, Ogun State, where I live has been threatened by the activities of robbers. Last night, we had to keep watch from 2am to 6:30am this morning.

Coming out last night for the first time for me to keep watch, I discovered the situation had gotten out of hand for the past one week, that all the Landlords and people in the area had to come out to keep watch against robbers. And it has been like this for a week now.

Some part of the area called Police and Security Agencies all to no avail.

It is a shame at this level we can’t still curtail and manage security situations of Nigerians.

Listening to News this morning a Police said most of the calls they received last night were false alarm calls. He defended by saying these and that people were just putting up lies to threaten security situations. It really absurd for the Nigeria Police to have such backward and complacent attitudes to doing their Jobs.
